Welcome to our web site, we hope that you enjoy and get a better appreciation of our luxurious 3 bedroom townhouse in Tavira.  We have been going to Portugal for several years now and in particular Tavira and simply fell in love with the people, food, and town of Tavira and of course the endless days of blue skies.   Fields of orange trees are common place as are hills of olive, fig and almond trees. Tavira town has old world charm and is one of the most architecturally attractive towns in the Algarve with little or no neon signs, just lots of cobble streets with excellent restaurants and cafés. The town of Tavira like most towns in the Algarve was virtually destroyed by the earthquake of 1755, Tavira was rebuilt with many fine 18th Century buildings now standing today along with its 37 churches.  A bridge called the Roman Bridge spans the River Gilão which separates the two parts of Tavira town.  Tavira town still remains as little untouched by commercial tourism as is possible  but demands in the this industry have seen golf courses built in the nearby vicinity.  On the outskirts of Tavira town a new shopping centre has been built called Tavira Gran Plaza, it is very modern and  has a supermarket, cinemas and shops to look around.  The immediate beach for Tavira town lies past the salt pans and is reached by a ferryboat that takes the visitor to the long attractive sandy-bar island known as Ilha de Tavira.  Other nearby beaches can be reached by car, most of which are never full as they stretch for miles. Why not even pay Spain a visit as the Spanish Town of Ayamonte is just about 35km from Tavira.  Seville is 170km from Tavira and can be an alternative airport to choose from.  The trip from the town of Seville Spain to the town of Tavira Portugal takes about 1 hour and 38 minutes.  Enjoy the rest of this website.
